Have you ever wondered if there’s an induction cooker that has all this? Perfect temperature control, sufficient programmable cooking time to adapt to your cooking style, working with smaller pots and more mobility? This device is close to perfection. Take a good look and find out why I think that.
Fine-tuned, says the manufacturer Heartware Inc. of the Nuwave PIC 2 induction hob, based in Libertiville, Illinois.
And it is not far from its purpose, from home users, people who travel (military, truck drivers, etc.), to industrial users (even if the object was not intended for them) : Hotels, restaurants, food companies.
Users have used and tested it, the results?
1. Control systems
The Nuwave PIC 2 induction cooktop has a very space-saving control panel. This can cause you to think that it is difficult to use, or that you have many features that you would never use.
But it’s not. As soon as you start cooking, you want to know what this little UFO is capable of, and the food ideas will flow in.
The control panel is located at the front of the product and is tilted downwards. In fact, the whole hob is rounded off (which distinguishes it from its competitors). Thanks to the production method, the low weight is maintained.
Let’s see what you can do with the controls and how to use them.
RUN – is located in the upper right corner.
The control panel, it allows you to start the article after placing the pot on it. In fact, before you press START, you need to prepare everything you need to cook. Pressing the start button heats the object to a high level (425 F), which is the default setting. If you want to set yourself at a lower level, you can use the Low control or simply press + or – until you have reached the desired temperature.
Pause/Delete – Located to the left of the Start button, which allows you to pause or delete the item. To interrupt it, press the button once and the object will be stopped during the firing phase. The temperature is still displayed on the LED display, the surface is cooling down, but F is flashing. If you want to get back to work, press START. The pause function is useful if you need to put something back when you have something to do and cannot get near the hob. Once you’re free, you can continue where you left off. I think that’s a great quality I didn’t find at Duxtop or Max Burton.
If you want to CLOSE the button twice, press it twice. The settings are lost, the LED display shows 0 and the system switches off.
Time – is located to the left of the LED display and allows the cooking time to be set. To use the Time function, press the Time button. The LED display shows 0, after which you can use it to set the time. Each time you press the Time button, the number flashes. The time format is 00.00, with the first two digits representing the hours and the last two digits representing the minutes. The maximum time that can be programmed is 99 hours and 60 minutes (i.e. 100 hours). This feature distinguishes the Nuwave PIC 2 from its competitors.
Let’s take an example to see how exactly you use the Time button.
Suppose we need to boil an egg within 5 minutes after, then we have to follow these steps
1. Press the start button;
2. Press the screen. Press the Med button (when programmed, the temperature is set to 275 F and is shown on the LED display. If you want to set the temperature to 212 F, you can use the controller – to lower the temperature);
3. 3. Press the Time key once (00.00 is displayed when the last digit is flashing);4. Press the Time key once (00.00 is displayed when the last digit is flashing);5. Press the Time key once (00.00 is displayed when the last digit is flashing). Press the + button until you reach 5;
5. Press Start and the countdown begins.
The LED display only shows the hours and minutes.
Let’s take another example where programmable time is needed at 14 minutes
1. 1. Pressing time
once 2. The last digit blinks, and with the + command it changes to 4
3. Press the Time button again and the near discharge flashes
4. Use the + button to go to 1
5. Click on Start.
And to program 2 hours 31 minutes , we would have taken these measurements…
1. 1. Press the Time button once;
2. Press the Time key. The last digit blinks and with + it is set to 1;
3. 3. Press again;
4. The last digit starts blinking, use the + button to go to 3;
5. 5. Press
6 again. The last digit of the clock starts blinking, use + to increase it to 2.
7. Press the Start button.
Prog , that’s where the fun starts. The button is located at the top left of the control panel. Use this key to program different baking steps. For example, if you want to cook for 10 minutes first, then let it boil for 15 minutes and then keep it warm for 30 minutes, follow the steps below:
1. 1. Press the Prog button;2. Press the Prog button;3. Press the Prog button;4. Press the Prog button;5. Press the Prog button;6. Press the Prog button;7. Press the Prog button;7. Press the Max/Zeer button;8. Press the Max/Zeer button;9. Press the Time key twice and the display will show 00.00 with the last digit, but not the last;
5. Press the + button to go to 1 (this sets 10 minutes)
(these are the steps of the first cooking step: cooking for 10 minutes)
6. 6. Press the Med Low button;
7. Press the Med Low button. 7. Press the Time button once;
8. Press the Time key. Press the + button to go to 5;
9. Press the Time button once;

(these are steps for a 15 minute cooking time)
11. Press the down button;
12. Press the Time key twice;
13. Press the + button to go to 3
(this is the last cooking step: hold the temperature for 30 minutes)
14. Click on Start
They can have up to 10 cooking steps. The cooking phase is part of the program. In the example above, 10 minutes cooking time is called the cooking phase. The total cooking time should not exceed 99 hours and 60 minutes.
Start/Step Delay function – this function is useful if you want to delay the start of the program/step. Suppose you want to postpone the above program for 5 minutes. To activate this function, the following steps must be performed:
1. 1. Press Prog (Prog appears);2. Press Prog (Prog appears);3. Press Prog (Prog appears);4. Press Prog (Prog appears); 1A5 5. Press Prog (Prog appears); 1A6 6. Press Prog (Prog appears); 1A7 7. Press the + button to go to 5;6. Press + button to go to 5; 1A7 to go to 5. Press the Prog button and continue making your own cooking steps as described in the example above, with 10 minutes for cooking, 15 minutes for cooking and 30 minutes for heating.
The structure of the control panel consists of 2 rows of buttons. The first line refers to the functions (discussed above), and the second line refers to the temperature setting. There are 6 buttons with which you can activate a certain temperature very quickly.
Low – this button can be used when you want to keep your food warm. The temperature he has set is 100 F (38 C?). In addition, 100F/38C is displayed on the screen.
Med Low – this option is ideal for the kitchen. The button has set the temperature to 175F (78C), and the LED panel displays exactly this 175F/78C temperature.
Med – for cooking with steam you can use this knob to set the temperature to 275F (135C).
Medium High – Chinese Dinnertime? It’s no problem. This button helps with baking. The temperature will be 375F (191 C).
High – Would you like to surprise your family with French cuisine? This button helps you weld/store. The temperature will be 425F/218C, you can also see it on the LED.
Max/Sear – This button shortens the waiting time if you want to prepare something quickly. You will receive 575F/302C.
You can also change these time parameters with the + or – controls. The minimum temperature is 100 F and the maximum temperature is 575 F. The temperature rises and falls by 10 degrees. The ability to select the exact cooking temperature will help you follow the instructions of your favorite recipes.
The surface is black and has a round shape. It is made of heat-resistant ceramic glass.
On the surface you will see the Nuwave logo, 2 circles (the smaller one is red and the larger one is white) and a warning message The cooking surface can stay hot even after cooking.
The red circle has a diameter of 5 inches and the white circle has a diameter of 9 inches.
Cleaning can be done with a damp cloth.
A major advantage is that spilled liquids do not burn or adhere to the surface, making them easy to clean.
If you plan to use a warehouse, you should be careful as the surface area can only contain 50 pounds.
3. Heating elements
The NuWave PIC 2 has a heating element, which is located under the ceramic glass and heats the bottom of the pot using induction technology.
The pot must be suitable for induction. To check this, try to see if the refrigerator magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan.
The size of the heating element is 9 inches, indicated by a large red circle, and thanks to induction the pot is heated evenly, even if the bottom of the pot has a diameter of 10 inches.
The manufacturer does not recommend the use of frying pans with a bottom of more than 12 inches. If a 12-inch frying pan is used, the heat is transferred more slowly to the edges.
The NuWave PIC 2 needs mains power, so you need a 120V/30 Amp power outlet. The article must be the only one plugged into the socket.
The stove has an output of 1300 watts.
I was surprised to hear that a 1300 W induction cooktop can produce 575 F (320 C), which is much higher than a 1800 W cooktop like the Duxtop or the Max Burton.
This means you’ll save on energy costs compared to the other two models, and if you need a portable hob for your walks, the NuWave PIC 2 needs less energy to run on a generator.
There are 6 sensors that signal a problem to the user or are only meant for protection.
Preparation of cooking/induction dishes – If the dishes are not detected by the hob or are not ready for induction, the error code E1 is displayed. You will hear a beep when the error code is displayed.
Fault Sensor – E2, E5, E6 Codes inform the user that the product has problems and cannot function properly. The manufacturer does not specify exactly what these codes mean or which parts they may affect. (Please contact them to find this information, or it may be included in the manual of a similar product manufactured by the manufacturer).
Low voltage sensor – The LED on the controller indicates the code E3 if the device voltage is below 85 V.
High voltage – The LED indicates error code E6 when the device voltage reaches 144 volts.
Overheating – Code E8 indicates that the hob has reached a temperature of 20 F degrees relative to the 575 F Max/Sear level. He’ll call once and then disconnect.
Total time sensor – When the programmed time of 100 hours (99 hours and 60 minutes) has been reached, the text FULL is displayed on the LED.
The NuWave PIC 2 has ventilation holes on the rear panel. The object is therefore very well ventilated and the hob is not heated.
We need to make sure there’s enough space around the object.
Some users clean the fans monthly with a hand vacuum cleaner.
The sound produced by the fans is not too loud – is like a computer fan.
The ventilation system will continue to operate for approximately 60 seconds after you press the Pause/Clean button or after you stop cooking.
7. Safety features
The NuWave PIC2 has been tested and complies with FCC Part 18 regulations.
The device is equipped with 10 sensors that return 10 error codes in case of abuse or malfunction. Starting with a pot presence sensor that beeps for a minute every two seconds when no food is present and ending with an overheating sensor. All this makes the use of this device safe.
I like that the appliance doesn’t burn explosions, so your kitchen doesn’t fill up with smoke or a burning smell.
Different versions of packages are sold, but the main package (which does not contain kitchen utensils) is
a. NuWave PIC 2 Induction hob;
b. Brief instructions;
c. User’s Manual;
d. Cookbook (how to cook different induction recipes);
.e. DVD with instructions.
The manufacturer produces a range of induction cookware – finished dishes that can be used with the Nuwave PIC 2.
Other brands tested by users with good results:
g. Careful (those without copper bottom);
hours. Circular symmetry.
If you wish to use it while traveling or camping, you must purchase a storage case from the manufacturer. The bag is waterproof, easy to handle, has a shoulder strap and a side pocket for cookbooks.
The surface can be easily cleaned with a damp dishcloth. The manufacturer recommends wiping the surface with a cloth soaked in hot soapy water and wringing well before use. This hob must not be placed in the dishwasher for cleaning (it is an electric appliance, etc.).

Comes with a 1 year fullwarranty. Users are advised to accept the extended warranty. Amazon offers a Trade Protection Plan that gives you three extra years for a small fee.
I suggest that you familiarise yourself with the conditions of the extended warranty, as it only covers a certain amount that the manufacturer spends on repairs. For example, if you have opted for a 3-year extended warranty and decide to cover a maximum of $125, you must pay $15.07.
I think it’s worth four years off.

The appliance turns off when you lift the pan.
13. Consumer classifications
The NuWave PIC2 is very popular with users because of the higher programming time and the very small step of 10 degrees to set the temperature, allowing users to follow their favorite recipes exactly.
There are people who have ordered through the manufacturer’s website, where the manufacturer has tried to sell or sell more than the customer wanted, which has made the ordering process more complicated.
People who bought the product on the manufacturer’s website submit their complaints to Amazon. So if you don’t fully read the reviews, there will be some confusion on Amazon.
However, only 10% of the respondents give very low scores, which have more to do with the manufacturer’s ordering process than with the product. When you order from Amazon, you will be much more satisfied with the ordering process.
The manufacturer’s price list is 169 USD.
The Amazons can sell them to you at a fair price. You will also find various offers containing dishes at very interesting prices.
In my opinion, the NuWave PIC2 induction cooktop is expensive because of its lower but very efficient 1300 W capacity and its ability to heat up to 575 F, which is more economical than the competition.
1. Can this Nuwave PIC 2 be used for preservation in pressure cookers?
Yeah, it’s perfect for pressure cooking: You can see on the manufacturer’s website that this stove with a charge of up to 50 pounds is suitable for canned food. Don’t forget that there are many aluminium guns on the market that work with induction.
